Column on the railway bank full of conspiracy theories – Santa Cruz Sentinel
Jim Weller’s latest guest commentary (February 3) substitutes conspiracy theories for facts. Hundreds of rail lines across the country have been banked in order to build trails. About a dozen subsequently resumed rail operations. The fact that most are not returning to rail operations has nothing to do with railbanking and has everything to do with the economy. That’s why three train operators on the Santa Cruz Branch Line quit in eight years!
Weller’s misrepresentation of a windfall for some supposed owners of Greenway near the tracks is offered without any evidence. If Mr. Weller wants to make accusations in public, he should provide evidence. Otherwise, readers (and the Sentinel) should dismiss his conspiracy theories for what they are – rubbish!
